About the Writer

Jackie Rosen, AKA Toronto Nerd, is a veteran broadcast journalist turned executive assistant, receptionist and media relations specialist, now working in the not-for-profit sector at Fighting Blindness Canada. She has worked both on air and behind the scenes for 680 NEWS, NEWSTALK 1010, Sportsnet 590 The Fan, 98.1 CHFI, CTV and CTV News Channel and CP24.

Living in Toronto's Regent Park, Jackie adores her hometown in a weird and wonderful way, including an obsession with the city's unofficial animal mascot - raccoons. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, nature walks, serving as a Board member at her condo complex, listening to all types of music, bombarding her friends with Schitt's Creek memes and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays and Raptors. Her superpower is her memory: she can recall nearly every day of her life in immense detail, and if you give her a random date from any year, she can tell you what day of the week it fell on.

Jackie is the creator and host of the What's the Difference Podcast, a series where she and other women and men living with disabilities share stories on navigating life. The podcast is available through multiple streaming services and on YouTube. She hopes the podcast will be the start of running her own not-for-profit - part of her 10-year plan! - to assist individuals with invisible disabilities.

Jackie shares her life with her motojournalist husband Dennis and daughter Hannah, born in February 2021.
